21 days later and finially an update

An update on my life and surrounding activities:

1) Finally got a job and now starting my new career in the HVAC industry for a company out of Valdosta, GA. They provided me with a cool company car called a VW Jetta and I am loving this automobile. Heck I just may buy the thing when we change vehicles. My job involves me to go visit area distributors in the HVAC industry to encourage them to place my heat and ac units in the customers home and business. I have an area that goes up to Augusta down to Brunswick with Savannah and Statesboro included.

2) The father of GSU football passed away a day before the season started for Georgia Southern. Erk Russell passed at the age of 80 after a heart attack on Friday Sept 8 in Statesboro. A funeral was held on Sunday Sept 10th with over 2000 mourners to pay their respects. Among those in attendance included over 150 former players from GSU and UGA, Gov Sonny Perdue, UGA Coach Mark Richt, former UGA coach Vince Dooley, Atlanta Olympic Comm Chair Billy Payne, former head coach of GSU Mike Sewak, former Asst. Coach John Pate, current head coach Brian Van Gorder, former Auburn coach Pat Dye, and many others that I can not remember. This man was the most respected and admired figure in college football in the state of GA and still is to this day. UGA and GSU football players have dedicated their season to him and wear a sticker with ERK on their helmets. May he rest in peace and god bless his family.

3) Well GSU football started on Sept 9th........THANK GOD......but the season started out with an UGLY loss to Central Conn State by the score of 17-13. This was the worst performance of GSU football I have seen in over ten years. The guys regrouped and came out a week later on Sept 16th with a BIG victory over Coastal Carolina. The team looked like they could stand up with any team in our conference or division with a variation of the old triple option game. I enjoyed this game and the victory cigar afterwards.

4) Tailgating season has begun as well!!!!!!!!!! I love this time of the year for college football but even more for tailgating with all my friends and family. We cooked some great low country boil for the second game and a big hit among everyone. I am looking to have a something special for homecoming when the App State Moutaineers come to town.

5) Family is doing great with the little princess saying more words everyday and singing her ABC's to me. Kelley is working her little tail off like crazy and trying her best to remain stress free. I am proud of my wife and her accomplishments that she undertakes everyday with the 70 kids in her class and the staff at the George Anne office.

Well that is pretty much it. I promise to blog more and even include thoughts about other games I will be watching over the weekend.
