Weekend Report

Well my travels went from Statesboro, GA to Blackburg, VA to Savannah, GA to Tyler, TX. Below are the details and some highlights from the journey that lasted three days.

Friday Sept 29th:

The girls and I leave from Statesboro to head up to Blacksburg, VA to visit Rickey our great friend and godfather of Riley. We arrive around 9:00 pm to his house to find a house full of cheerleaders eating and drnking beer, mind you before a big game the next day. We get settled in and have a couple of beers with them only to find out that Rickey's house is basically their second home and a tradition have each Friday night before a game. Later on that night Rickey and me head out to the town of Blacksburg to a bar call TOP OF THE STAIRS or to the locals "TOTS" and it is jammed packed with folks. Rickey gets me a drink called the RAIL which is basically a mixture of every liqour on the bar shelf with a splash of coke. Pretty strong and similar to a long island ice tea and I had about three of them. Rickey on the other hand had the same amount and was TOASTED. Fun night with him and enjoyed the outing.

SaturdaySept 30th:

GAMEDAY!!!!!!!!! In Blacksburg and the town is gearing up for a big game of Virginia TEch Hokies #10 hosts the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets #24 in front of a packed crowd of just over 66,000 fans on the Orange Effect. What you ask is the orange effect I will get to that in a seond. But first the girls, Rickey and me head to McDonalds to have breakfast and see syrup get poured all over rickey and his pants. What a mess it was but we still enjoyed ourselves. Head back to the house to get cleaned up so that the girls and me can head to the bookstore to get some Hokie gear.

A HOKIE what in the hell is it.......well I found out that it is a castrated turkey and very loud google sound. Anyway we are at the bookstore to get something orange because of the orange effect. The orange effect is a promotion that designates two games each season as one being the orange effect and the other the maroon effect, which are their school colors. Each person is encouraged to wear a orange shirt and the bookstore even sells a shirt with a slogan on the back. Pretty cool idea and the stadium looked like a big bowl of oranges and very impressive. So we got little Riley a cute Hokies hoody and kelley and me a tshirt.

Once back to the house we find the same group of guys that were at the house last night their again and now cooking a big breakfast feast. We had sausage, biscuits, pancakes, eggs, juice, bacon, and hash browns. The guys did all the cooking and even cleaned the kitchen as well.

So we, as all the cheerleaders Rickey and the callaway clan pile into a little Ford pickup truck to head to the stadium for the game. Once we got parked the callaway clan headed across the campus to meet up with Mr. Brady and his daughters family who live in the area to tailgate with them. We had a blst and very nice folks.

Game time start and we get settled into our great seats that are field level and front row, by the cheerleaders with a great view :). The game starts and I am off to get some drinks and food for everyone. No cash in the wallet so I went to three ATMS......all out of order......finially found the last one with a line of 30 deep. Got some money and headed back to the game to see GT up 21 points over scoreless Hokies. We the hokies lost in the end by like 11 points GT is a damn good team.

We headed back to the house after the game to rest and hang out with my baby since I will not be with her for two weeks. We watch some movies and went to bed early. Kelley on the other hand went out to TOTS with Rickey to get wasted by some RAILS. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..........she had a blast and slept the whole home on sunday.

Sunday Oct 1st:

Drove back to Savannah and got ready to head to Texas for two weeks.

On The Road Again!!!

Well with the new job brings me new travels.....I am heading to TEXAS for training.

But first the girls and I will be driving up to Blacksburg, VA for the Virginia Tech vs Georgia Tech football game on Saturday, 3:30 pm on ABC, and to see our beloved friend Ricky and his cheerleaders. Now Kelley and I have been to a VT game before but they are quite different from other collegiate games that I have been too. For one the mascot is a HOKIE.......what in the hell is a hokie. I am not sure but will find out this weekend. We are also going to check out the tailgate scene and maybe the bar scene this weekend as well. I hear that Blacksburg is a cool town and the weather will be perfect this weekend too.

On Sunday we head back to Georgia to drop me off in Savannah at the airport for my flight to Dallas. My flight leaves early in the evening and should be in Dallas by 11:00 pm with a two hour drive to Tyler, TX where I will be for TWO WHOLE weeks. I sure as hell going to miss my girls and the GSU game next Saturday on the 7th of Oct but will be back by the 13th on that Friday night.

While in Texas I will have two days free next weekend and may go check out the big city of Dallas and they will also have the Texas State fair.

So I will miss everyone, especially my lovely two girls and will see everyone soon. I will try to blog in and let everyone know how Texas is next week.

See ya

21 days later and finially an update

An update on my life and surrounding activities:

1) Finally got a job and now starting my new career in the HVAC industry for a company out of Valdosta, GA. They provided me with a cool company car called a VW Jetta and I am loving this automobile. Heck I just may buy the thing when we change vehicles. My job involves me to go visit area distributors in the HVAC industry to encourage them to place my heat and ac units in the customers home and business. I have an area that goes up to Augusta down to Brunswick with Savannah and Statesboro included.

2) The father of GSU football passed away a day before the season started for Georgia Southern. Erk Russell passed at the age of 80 after a heart attack on Friday Sept 8 in Statesboro. A funeral was held on Sunday Sept 10th with over 2000 mourners to pay their respects. Among those in attendance included over 150 former players from GSU and UGA, Gov Sonny Perdue, UGA Coach Mark Richt, former UGA coach Vince Dooley, Atlanta Olympic Comm Chair Billy Payne, former head coach of GSU Mike Sewak, former Asst. Coach John Pate, current head coach Brian Van Gorder, former Auburn coach Pat Dye, and many others that I can not remember. This man was the most respected and admired figure in college football in the state of GA and still is to this day. UGA and GSU football players have dedicated their season to him and wear a sticker with ERK on their helmets. May he rest in peace and god bless his family.

3) Well GSU football started on Sept 9th........THANK GOD......but the season started out with an UGLY loss to Central Conn State by the score of 17-13. This was the worst performance of GSU football I have seen in over ten years. The guys regrouped and came out a week later on Sept 16th with a BIG victory over Coastal Carolina. The team looked like they could stand up with any team in our conference or division with a variation of the old triple option game. I enjoyed this game and the victory cigar afterwards.

4) Tailgating season has begun as well!!!!!!!!!! I love this time of the year for college football but even more for tailgating with all my friends and family. We cooked some great low country boil for the second game and a big hit among everyone. I am looking to have a something special for homecoming when the App State Moutaineers come to town.

5) Family is doing great with the little princess saying more words everyday and singing her ABC's to me. Kelley is working her little tail off like crazy and trying her best to remain stress free. I am proud of my wife and her accomplishments that she undertakes everyday with the 70 kids in her class and the staff at the George Anne office.

Well that is pretty much it. I promise to blog more and even include thoughts about other games I will be watching over the weekend.

7 Days Left - 1 LONG Week

Well folks it is down to just one week and I am more hungry for this season to start more than ever...........you ask why..........well here are some reasons:

1) Went to the Statesboro High game last night to watch the Blue Devils play in their newly renovated stadium with well over 5,000 folks there in attendance as Statesboro won the game over Screven County 21-0. The stadium is very similar to Paulson and very nice with lots of excitement coming from the defending state champs for the remainder of the season.

2) I have had in my possession for well over a week season tickets for our beloved GSU Eagles and planning out each game that we will go to this season.

3) COLLEGE GAME DAY on ESPN.........probably my favorite show of all time just expanded to TWO hours of coverage and they started their show in Atlanta with the Georgia Tech vs Notre Dame matchup later on. Personally I would like to see GT win the game with a major upset. Now on college game day, I just would love to have Lee and Kirk broadcast live from Statesboro, ,GA for one weekend to do the show. Dreams may soon become a reality.

4) Later this week we will have the Bulloch County Eagle club kickoff and the first luncheon on Friday with the head coach for a game preview.

Well I could go on with more reasons but it is Saturday and college games are about to begin or already have started across the nation. See you later

By the way I just may start tailgating on Friday night to get ready for our home opener.

12 Days Left - One 12pack of Beer

Well folks only 12 days left until a new era of Georgia Southern Football begins

Sorry that I have not posted recently but I imagine the three or four of ya'll still know when the season starts. Also here is an update since the last posting:

The inlaws were in town over the weekend and the grammy was in town for the week. I am glad they were able to make it down to Georgia to see their little grandbaby and watch her grow more each day. Also we had another sister in town for the weekend as well.

All of the girls in my life, except for Riley, went to the 4th Annual Eagle Ladies Lockeroom at the Parrish Football Center on Friday night. Needless to say they were all VERY drunk and hada grand time when I arrived to pick them up. They supposedly learned about football but I imagine they also gawked at the shirtless players in tight pants and drank gallons of beer all night.

The little princess is more amazing each day and has started saying bless you when you sneeze.........very cute might I add and she knows her manners.

The job hunt is getting better and better but I need to get back to work fast before the wife wants to kill me. Plus I am tired of watching the Price Is Right and Regis and Kelley show.

Later this week we will be heading over to watch the Statesboro High Blue Devils play their first home game in the newly renovated stadium as the defending state champions. The stadium is a minature Paulson Stadium and surely will draw some huge crowds.

Till then............

Snakes On A Plane

A little movie review on "SNAKES ON A PLANE"

Went last night with Derek, aka Liquid Courage, and saw the "early" 10:00 om showing with about 30 other GEEKS in tow.

I thought that the movie was freaking awesome and never seen snakes kill a human being in way that they killed them in this movie. I would not give way the entire plot of the movie except that Samuel L Jackson is one awesome mutha f#$ker and is famous liner was near the end of the movie. I encourage everyone to go see the movie unless you have a fear of snakes or work as a pilot/flight attendant.

22 Days!!!!!!!!

Well a miracle has happened and I finially got the Southern Boosters packet yesterday morning................Now I am waiting patiently for the season tickets in the next several days

Anyway Media Day is tommorrow and I am sure that Riley will be running around pointing and talking to football players.......hope to have some pictures up here shortly after

See everyone soon (wonder how many people read this blog)
